Two generations in the light 🌿 In the gentle forest glow, two dark honey fungi stand side by side. One grown, one young — together catching the last golden rays of autumn. 🔹 Fact: The dark honey fungus (Armillaria ostoyae) lives as both a parasite and recycler. It infects weak trees through their roots, then breaks down the wood after death, returning nutrients to the soil. Its underground rhizomorphs can stretch for metres — some colonies are over 2,000 years old, making it one of the oldest living organisms on Earth. 🍂
